Mars Hydro Vertical Garden Pro Indoor Vegetable Garden, 6 Tier
Remember the waiting list for an allotment? Here's an indoor vegetable garden with grow lights that fits in your flat. Five shelves of growing space, from the floor to about shoulder height, filled with salad, herbs, strawberries, chillies and trays of seedlings, all under their own light and all a few steps from the kitchen.
With 250W across ten light bars, this vertical garden has the most light of any stand in our range: a true indoor allotment for families who want to grow seriously, eat well and feel the satisfaction of your own homestead, all year round, without a patch of soil outside.
Grow your own happiness
Allotment holders often talk about how their plot clears their head. Many people find the same with indoor growing: sowing, pricking out, potting on and picking can be a gently absorbing way to switch off from screens and to-do lists. And there's real joy in a daily wander along the shelves to see what's ready.
With five shelves, there's room for everyone. Children can run their own "plot", plan what to sow each month, and keep a growing diary through the seasons. It's home education with dirt under the fingernails, and dinner at the end of it.
What you can grow in your indoor vegetable garden
- Strawberries, chillies and dwarf tomatoes
- Vegetables indoors all year round: lettuce, rocket, spinach, chard and pak choi
- Herbs by the trayful: basil, mint, parsley, coriander and chives
- Sunflower, radish and pea shoot microgreens on rotation
- A full spring's worth of seedlings for the balcony, patio or a friend's garden
Why you'll love it
- Five lit growing shelves. Each 110 × 40 cm shelf has its own grow lights, giving you a whole allotment's worth of variety in one footprint.
- Plenty of light for fruiting plants. Ten 25W LED bars give 250W of full-spectrum light, ideal for strawberries and chillies as well as leafy greens.
- A vertical garden with grow lights, floor to shoulder. Growing upwards means a big harvest from a small patch of floor.
- Built to last. A powder-coated, rust-resistant steel frame and IP65 waterproof lights cope happily with daily watering.
- Still just one plug. All ten lights run from a single UK socket.
- Tidy and mobile. Five waterproof mats with drainage holes catch the drips, and wheels let you move it for cleaning.
- Your own little greenhouse. The optional zip-on cover with a clear window keeps seedlings warm and cosy through winter.

Frequently asked questions
How many hours should I leave the lights on?
For most kitchen herbs and houseplants, 12 to 14 hours a day works well. Seedlings often prefer 14 to 16 hours, then a proper dark night. A plug-in timer makes this easy.
How far should the lights be from the plants?
On these stands the lights sit on each shelf, so raise or lower the shelf so the tops of the plants sit a comfortable few centimetres below the bars. If leaves bleach or look stressed, give them a little more space.
How much electricity does it use?
At 250W for about 12 hours a day it uses about 3.0 kWh a day. At about 25p per kWh, that is roughly 75p a day.
Is it safe around pets and children?
Keep trailing cords tidy and out of reach, and supervise young children around water and electricity as you would with any household appliance. Place the stand where it will not be knocked.
Does it have a UK plug?
Yes. All the lights on this stand run from a single UK plug.
How long does assembly take?
The frame and shelves assemble in a short session, then you fit the lights and mats.
