Plagron Cocos Brix Coco Coir Bricks, Pack of 6 (42L)
Plagron Cocos Brix are compressed coco coir bricks: six small blocks of washed, buffered coconut fibre that each swell to about 7 litres in 4 litres of water, making roughly 42 litres of clean growing medium from a pack the size of a loaf of bread.
It’s one of the most satisfying jobs in the potting shed. Drop a brick into a bucket of water, let the children squeeze and crumble it, and in 20 to 30 minutes a hard brown block becomes a big, soft heap of fluffy coir.
Coco coir bricks that store small and grow big
Coir is made from coconut husks, a renewable by-product of the coconut industry. Plagron washes and calcium-buffers it before pressing, so the starting EC is very low and the pH is stable, with no hidden feed. That gives you a clean, fresh base to mix with compost, perlite or worm castings, exactly as you like it.
The fibrous texture holds moisture evenly while leaving thousands of tiny air pockets, so roots stay damp but never waterlogged. And because the bricks are dry and compact, they sit on a shelf until you need them, with no split bags and no leftovers going stale.
What coco coir bricks help with
- Making your own seed sowing and potting mixes
- Lightening heavy compost for houseplants and herbs
- Growing in coir with a liquid feed
- Improving garden soil after use
- Rainy-day potting projects with children
Six bricks, 42 litres of fluffy coir
- Expands sevenfold. Each 1.2 litre brick makes about 7 litres of ready coir.
- Washed and buffered. Low EC and calcium buffered for a stable, clean start.
- RHP certified. Checked to be free from weeds and pathogens.
- Easy to store. Six compact bricks instead of a big, bulky sack.
- Reusable as a soil improver. Dig used coir into beds to lighten clay or help sandy soil hold water.
Coco coir bricks: your questions answered
How do you use coco coir bricks?
Put one brick in a bucket with 4 litres of water and squeeze it every so often. After 20 to 30 minutes you’ll have about 7 litres of loose coir, ready to use or mix.
How much does one coir brick make?
Each Plagron Cocos Brix brick makes about 7 litres, so the pack of six makes around 42 litres.
Can I mix coco coir with compost?
Yes. Coir mixes well with compost, perlite and worm castings, adding moisture-holding fibre while keeping the mix light.
Does coco coir have nutrients in it?
No. Cocos Brix is washed and buffered with virtually no nutrients, so add a feed when you water, or mix it with a richer compost or worm castings.
